Lyle Gerard (Blackfeet) has created a map showing the locations of tribal nations and their proximity to confirmed coronavirus cases in Montana.
The map shows confirmed cases on the Flathead Reservation, home to the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. According to the state of Montana, there are 2 cases in Flathead County, as of the morning of March 22, 2020.
According to Gerard’s map, there are also confirmed coronavirus cases near the homelands of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes. The Montana state data shows 1 case in Roosevelt County, part of which encompasses the Fort Peck Reservation.
Gerard’s map also shows confirmed coronavirus cases near the Crow Tribe and the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. According to the Montana data, there are 5 cases in nearby Yellowstone County, home to Billings, the most populous city in the state.
