FEBRUARY 26, 2001 In an editorial published in today's edition of The New London Day, Ledyard Mayor Wesley Johnson says they are justified to fear the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation might one day buy all of of southewastern Connecticut and have the federal government take it into trust. Johnson says an editorial written by Lance C. Johnson, managing editor of The Day, was incorrect on several issues. Johnson said he wants to correct them. Along with the towns of North Stonington and Ledyard, Johnson and Attorney General Richard Blumenthal have asked the Supreme Court to review a 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals decision favoring the tribe.
