Editorial: Take trust from Interior
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2002

The Department of Interior has "no credibility" in Indian Country or anywhere else, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader writes in an editorial today.

For that reason, the paper says, Indian trust needs to be taken "as far away from the Interior Department as possible." The paper says that the department has failed to comply with a federal judge's order to fix the broken system and provide an accounting to 300,000 American Indians.

"It's done neither," the paper states.
