President Bush today is bringing embattled judicial nominee Charles Pickering to the White House for a last-minute rally but it probably won't do any good.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is ready to vote along party lines to reject Pickering, a federal judge nominated to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. Democrats, civil rights groups, abortion rights supporters and some African-Americans are opposing Pickering.

Republicans and other African-Americans support him. A committee vote is set for Thursday.
