The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho will continue collecting a 25-cent-per-gallon gas tax and use it for transportation projects on reservation, city, county and possibly state roads.

The tribe was forced to collect the tax by the state. But the Idaho Supreme Court ruled that tribes weren't required to remit the funds.

A bill has been signed into law to force the tribes to give up the money. State Attorney General Al Lance has said the law is unconstitutional.
