The Maine Legislative Council has dedicated money to start a task force to study a tribal casino proposal.

The House and the Senate have yet to approve the full study, however. The Penobscot Nation and the Passamaquoddy Tribe want to open a casino in the southern port of Kittery.

If authorized, a 19-member commission, including a tribal representative, would look at the impact of a potential casino.
