Maine tribes drop casino for now

TUESDAY, MARCH 12, 2002 The Penobcot Nation and the Passamaquoddy Tribe have dropped their push to open a casino in Maine. The tribes are seeking legislative approval for a gambling facility in southern Maine. On Monday, they said the didn't think they have enough time to present their proposal for this session. Gov. Angus King was ready to veto the bill if it bill reached him. He already rejected a measure for a Penobscot casino in eastern Maine. Get the Story:
