Three tribes in the metro-Phoenix area are vying for a chance to host a new Arizona Cardinals football stadium.

Officials from the state Tourism and Sports Authority toured the Gila River Indian Community's site on Friday and gave it favorable reviews, according to The Arizona Republic. The authority is also considering sites on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Reservation and the Fort McDowell Reservation.

The city of Chandler said it is moving to officially back the Gila River site, reports the Associated Press.
