The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday rejected a request to speed up approval of a $91 million casino settlement New Mexico tribes have made with Attorney General Patricia Madrid.

The tribes made the settlement as a condition of negotiating new, more favorable compacts with the state. But two tribes -- Pojoaque Pueblo and the Mescalero Apache Nation -- have objected.

Their objections, however, don't mean the other tribes can't get their deal approved. If the other tribes drop an appeal they made to the 10th Circuit, a federal judge in New Mexico can sign off on the settlement.
