In an editorial today, The New London Day says the Mohegan Tribe made a good decision to re-evaluate its plan to enter the fisheries business after local fishermen and boaters complained.

The paper says the tribe should propose a "more modest" plan than the one originally envisioned. The paper says the tribe's economic development prospects must be considered but that the greater good of the southeastern Connecticut region must be looked at as well.

The tribe wants to start a commercial aquaculture business but its plan to place lobster traps and other fishing equipment in federal waters raised the concern of locals.
