The state of Oklahoma has voiced little objections to a plan approved by the Cherokee Nation to issue their own tribal car tags.

The state in the past has opposed efforts by tribes to issue tags, which are typically less expensive. But a 1993 Supreme Court decision limited the role the state has on the issue.

The Cherokee Nation would be the largest of Oklahoma's tribes to issue car tags.
