A judge in New Mexico on Monday sentenced a man to 46 years for the killing of a Navajo woman.

But Robert Ray Fry still faces the possibility of death. Judge William Birdsall's sentence only applies to kidnapping, attempted rape and evidence tampering.

Fry was guilty of first-degree murder by a jury. He was convicted for the July 2000 death of Betty Lee.
