Tribe asks Supreme Court for recognition

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2002 The Supreme Court is set to decide whether to accept a case that could recognize the Miami Nation of Indiana. The tribe was turned down for recognition by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. An appeals court last June ruled that the tribe ceased to exist after World War II. Get the Story:
