Settlement sought on Cayuga claim

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2001 The Cayuga Nation is asking New York Gov. George Pataki (R) to pay $247.9 million for land illegally taken from the tribe. A federal judge has determined the state owes the tribe money for the lost land. But various state officials have questioned the award, leading the tribe to seek to have all potential appeals dropped. Get the Story:
