BIA takes over tribe's police

The Bureau of Indian Affairs on Sunday took over operation of the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone tribal police department due to non-compliance with law enforcement policies.

As a result, the tribe's 15 officers will be placed on administrative leave and replaced indefintely by a BIA-approved force. The move comes as the tribe is facing a dispute over leadership.
