In a ceremony he described as "moving," the chairman of SBC Holdings Inc. on Thursday apologized to the descendants of Crazy Horse for using the Lakota leader's likeness on a malt liquor product.

John W. Stroh III offered no money to the descendants. Instead, 32 Pendleton blankets, 32 blades of sweet grass, and 32 bundles of tobacco were given to symbolize the 32 states in which SBC distributed Crazy Horse Malt Liquor.

Seven horses were also given. The ceremony took place in Mission, South Dakota.

Descendants of Crazy Horse filed the suit against SBC and Hormel. Hormel continues to make the beer and the descendants say they will continue to fight.

Congress had stepped in and forbade any marks bearing Crazy Horse's name or likeness. But a court ruled the action unconstitutional.
