Fourth Chiapas army base closed

JANUARY 18, 2001 The Mexican Army on Wednesday closed the fourth of seven army bases in the southern state of Chiapas, the location of an Indian-rights movement. The bases are being closed to fulfill promises made to the Zapatista movement. Some of the bases will remain open, though, to protect public safey. Get the Story:
