First Nation signs megadeal

The Northern Cree First Nation of Quebec on Tuesday signed an economic development deal with the province.

The agreement calls for a number of forestry, mining and hydro-electric projects. Includes is a $4 billion hydro-electric project that will require diverting the Rupert River, the largest river in norther Quebec.

In return, the First Nation will get at least $3.5 billion over a 50-year period. The First Nation has agreed to drop $3.6 billion in lawsuits.
