Norton moving to reverse land decision

FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2002 Secretary of Interior Gale Norton is considering reversing a Clinton administration decision which closed off nearly 50,000 acres of land in southern California to off-road vehicle use. The Bureau of Land Management has proposed to reopen areas of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area to the vehicles. Environmentalists oppose the plan because they say it will hurt endangered plants and animals. Get the Story:
