With respiratory diseases high on the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony in Nevada, the tribe is particularly concerned about a massive kitty litter project that appears near final approval.

The tribe's governmental affairs director, Todd Irvine, sad the clay mine and the litter factory would impact the health of members. Oil-Dri Corp. of Chicago wants to build the operation on land next to the reservation.

In addition to the tribe, the project is heavily opposed by area residents. The Bureau of Land Management and a local health department have given approval with the local county commission set to vote on the project on February 26.
