The FBI has been called to the Washington-Oregon border after a local policeman apparently warned violence may erupt among the federal officials and farmers angry they have been denied water.

Farmers in Oregon have been camped out at an irrigation project ever since being denied the water. They have broken into a head canal to restore the flows of water.

The Bureau of Reclamation is holding back the water to protect endangered and threatened fish. Secretary of Interior Gale Norton is allowing some water to be released from the Klamath Lake.
