The National Marine Fisheries Service has proposed steelhead in the Klamath Mountains of southern Oregon and Northern California be listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has opposed the designation because it says the steelhead are plentiful.
