FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2002

The Alaska Native Science and Engineering Society's state science fair was held recently, bringing together students and Alaska Native elders.

Students are paired with elders to work on science projects that explore traditional knowledge. Projects included comparing Inupiaq weather predictions with those of the National Weather Service, using traditional healing agents to treat psoriasis and Inupiaq massage techniques.
