NCAI: Bush setting BIA schools up for failure

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2002 President Bush's proposal to outsource tribal schools to private entities sets them up for failure, a National Congress of American Indians official told Jodi Rave of The Lincoln Journal Star. The fiscal year 2003 budget calls for removing low-performing schools from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and handing them to private entities. Aura Kanegis, NCAI's governmental affairs director, in particular said the $11.9 million dedicated to advance the effort is troublesome. Get the Story:
