Minn. schools oppose mascots

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2002 The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities board unanimously voted on Thursday to pass a resolution condemning the use of ethnic or offensive logos, names, mascots and nicknames. No school which belongs to the coalition uses ethnic or Indian symbols. It was passed to show support for St. Cloud State University, which opposes playing the University of North Dakota, whose nickname is the "Fighting Sioux." Get the Story:
