Money vetoed for Navajo dorms

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2002 Navajo Nation President Kelsey Begaye last week vetoed $2 million in funds to complete school dorms sorely in need of replacement. Begaye said spending the money on the Navajo Preparatory dorms would draw away too much money from the tribe's general fund. But students and educators criticized him, saying he is not living up to his promises to improve education. Get the Story:
