MONDAY, JANUARY 21, 2002 Over the weekend, a group of about 20 people camped out at an historic Lower Hidatsa village in North Dakota as part of a recreation of Lewis and Clark's journey through the West. In the winter of 1804-1805, Lewis and Clark camped out near the Knife River villages. The villages were home to about 5,000 Mandan and Hidatsa. The North Dakota State Historical Society helped bring the modern day adventurers to the Hidatsa village. The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation is participating in the bicentennial commemoration of the Lewis and Clark journey. Get the Story:
