'Fighting Sioux' supporter tied to school funds

JANUARY 29, 2001 Ralph Engelstad apparently can't just drop funding for the $100 million hockey arena he's constructing at the University of North Dakota even if the school get rid of its "Fighting Sioux" nickname. Engelstad said he would leave the hockey arena unfinished should the school drop the name but his contract states he'd have to pay no matter what. He has already put $35 million into it.
