Bone fragments discovered on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's East campus are human, the State Historical Society has confirmed.

But associate director Rob Bozell says he doesn't know yet if the bones are Indian. The school has admitted incinerating Native remains and hauling them off to a landfill but some may still remain on the campus.

A specially-trained search dog was brought in to find any bones. The dog uncovered the fragments last month.

Earlier this month, the school dedicated a memorial to the remains.
