Calif. governor set for recall election Oct. 7

FRIDAY, JULY 25, 2003 California voters will go to the polls October 7 in a recall election of Governor Gray Davis (D) in only the second such election in U.S. history. The ballot will ask voters whether to keep or oust Davis, whose popularity has plummeted in the face of a $38 billion budget shortfall. Voters will also be allowed to choose a successor -- Republicans and Democrats are lining up their choices. Get the Story:
