Senate panel delays action on Bush nominee

FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2003 The Senate Judiciary Committee delayed action on the nomination of William H. Pryor Jr. to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals after Democrats questioned whether he was truthful about fundraising efforts as Alabama's attorney general. Chairman Orrin G. Hatch was angered by the complaints but eventually agreed to postpone until next week. Pryor and other GOP attorneys general solicited campaign contributions from corporations in litigation with their state governments. The 11th Circuit hears cases affecting tribes in Alabama and Florida. It has generally ruled favorably on the Miccosukee Tribe's Everglades lawsuits. Get the Story:
