Calif. governor vows support for sacred sites bill

California Governor Gray Davis said he would sign a bill increasing protection of sacred sites.

The bill requires tribal governments to be consulted on development projects. It would give greater powers to the state Native American Heritage Commission.

Davis vetoed a similar bill last year.
