San Carlos Apache vice chairman still on leave

WEDNESDAY, JULY 9, 2003 The vice chairman of the San Carlos Apache Tribe of Arizona remains on leave pending resolution of his off-reservation legal problems. Recently, tribal authorities and members discovered that Robert Howard, 32, had an outstanding warrant for drunk driving and another for assault and property damage. Howard told The Arizona Republic and the tribal newspaper that the problems occurred when he was much younger. The problems came to light after Howard placed the tribal police chief on leave for allegedly assaulting a captain. Get the Story:
