MONDAY, JULY 7, 2003

Fires are burning on two Washington reservations.

The Rattlesnake Canyon Fire on the Colville Reservation doubled in size to 3,000 acres over the weekend. Considered a very active fire, it is in a remote location but could threaten important cultural sites.

On the Spokane Reservation, the Paddle Fire has burned about 700 acres. It was apparently started by fireworks.
