Thanks to some help from some powerful allies, Santa Fe Indian School will see some positive improvements, The Santa Fe New Mexican says in an editorial.

The paper credits Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) with securing funding for entirely new buildings. "It will be a high-tech, well-wired campus, as further encouragement to the school's successful computer-education programs -- yet it will reflect traditional pueblo style, including emphasis on the kiva," the paper says of the changes.

The school is owned and run by the state's 19 Pueblos and is on the Bureau of Indian Affairs priority improvement list. The property is held in trust for the tribes.
