Tribal leaders will be meeting with Senate staff July 2 to discuss Indian energy development legislation.

At the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) last week, tribal leaders passed a resolution expressing concerns about the measure. They opposed treatment of Alaska Native corporations as tribes and limits on the federal government's trust responsibilities.

The Indian bill seeks to speed up development of tribal lands.
