A six-week study in New Mexico will try to determine whether therapeutic massage and a micro-electric nerve stimulator can help treat patients with diabetic neuropathy.

Diabetic neuropathy occurs when nerve cells die at a person's extremities, affecting fingers and toes. About half of people with diabetes develop some form of neuropathy.

The study is being run by a doctor, a nurse, a massage therapist and a statistician.
