Members of the House have introduced the Native Americans Sacred Lands Act to protect sacred sites from development.

The bill enforces a Clinton-era executive order on sacred lands. It allows tribes to petition federal agencies to bar development on federal lands.

The bill has 15 Democrat sponsors, including Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.), the ranking member of the House Resources Committee.
