State wants Mich. tribal members to pay taxes

TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 2003 The state of Michigan wants members of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community of Michigan to pay state taxes, WLUC TV 6 reports. Former chairman Fred Dakota doesn't think the idea is a good one. He is proposing an alternative that he says will preserve tribal sovereignty. Get the Story:
