Eastern Cherokee chief ousted in primary

FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 2003 Eastern Cherokee principal chief Leon Jones was voted out of a tribal primary Thursday. Vice chief Carroll Crowe and finance director Michell Hicks were the top vote-getters. Jones finished third. Crowe and Hicks will face each other in the general election this September. All tribal council seats are also up for grabs. Get the Story:
