Navajo artist inspired by 9-11 and Iraq war

FRIDAY, MAY 30, 2003 A painting by Navajo artist David John has been selected as this year's Santa Fe Indian Market poster. "Rain Chant" was inspired by the September 11 terrorist attacks and the war in Iraq, John said. He said the painting is about cleansing, healing and a new beginning. The 82nd annual Indian Market, sponsored by the Southwestern Association for Indian Art, will be held August 23-24. Get the Story:
