Conn. bill legalizes casino nights again

Minority lawmakers in Connecticut accused their colleagues of racism and hypocrisy for approving a bill that would legalize the same type of gaming they rescinded in order to stop new tribal casinos.

In January, the Legislature repealed the so-called Vegas Nights law. Lawmakers hoped the move will prevent newly-recognized tribes from opening casinos.

But the House has just approved the use of "bazaar games" at high schools. Lawmakers said its proponents aren't being consistent with their alleged dislike for gaming.
