The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending voluntary testing for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

The CDC said screening is especially urged for pregnant mothers, intravenous drug users and persons who have unsafe sex. The tests are meant to combat the 40,000 new HIV infections being reported every year.
