An Army private first class who was a roommate of a Hopi woman considered missing in action in Iraq watched other members of her unit die during a skirmish with Iraqi forces, The Washington Post reports.

There is no word on whether Lori Piestewa, 23, is among those dead. But news accounts say that 11 bodies were found at the hospital where Jessica Lynch, Piestewa's fellow unit member, was rescued on Tuesday.

The military is working to identify the bodies but warns that it may take some time. The Piestewa family, from Tuba City, Arizona, on the Navajo Reservation and next to the Hopi Reservation, have hope since Lynch was rescued.
