The South Dakota Legislature passed a bill limiting a legal victory won on behalf of tribal members.

The S.D. Supreme Court has ruled that tribal members who bought gas on Indian land are entitled to a refund of any state tax paid. Attorney general Larry Long asked lawmakers to limit refunds going back six years.

Separately, the Legislature passed a bill to authorize tribal-state compacts for motor fuel taxes and vehicle excise taxes.
