Ancestors of the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma and the Stockbridge Munsee Mohicans of Wisconsin once called New York home. The tribes today are reclaiming the ancestral territory -- and bringing plans for casinos along for the rocky ride.

The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe has started building a high-states bingo hall on 229 acres of land. The tribe says the land is part of a massive land claim but politicians and the Bureau of Indian Affairs aren't inclined to agree.

The Stockbridge Munsee Band is interested in land in the Catskills region of New York, where state law authorizes gaming compacts for three casinos. But Gov. George Pataki (R) and other tribes in the state don't want any of "out-of-state" tribes to reap the benefits.
