The Wisconsin Assembly voted 59-38 to require more oversight of tribal casino compacts.

The bill requires legislative approval of any agreement longer than 15 years or that allows off-reservation gaming. It was drafted in response to Gov. Jim Doyle, a Democrat, who negotiated two open-ended deals that Republicans say won't benefit the state.
