Program seeks to increase Alaska Native teachers

A federally-funded program seeks to increase the number of Alaska Natives in rural teaching jobs.

Preparing Indigenous Teachers for Alaska Schools (PITAS) is in its third year of operation, funded by the Department of Education. Students receive scholarships to work in schools in southeast Alaska and the Lower Kuskokwim School District.
