Cuts to water projects in South Dakota are "unacceptable," The Sioux Falls Argus Leader says in an editorial today.

The paper cites President Bush's proposed cuts to three rural and tribal projects. The Mni Wiconi, which will provide clean water to the Lower Brule, Rosebud and Pine Ridge reservations and surrounding communities, will see an 80 percent slash of $53 million.

"It's clear now that water for South Dakota is not a priority for the Bush White House," the paper writes. "The president will not carry this forward in any form."
