Northern Cheyenne president suspended by council

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2003 Geri Small, the first woman president of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana, was suspended without pay by the tribal council on Tuesday. The vote was 5-4 with two members absent. Critics said Small has driven the tribe into debt of at least $1.3 million. Small said she is asking the tribal court to stop the action. In the last year of her four-year term, she said her opponents are going after her for personal reasons and because she is a woman. Get the Story:
